I’m back in Canada.

My fifth country in seven days.

France, Switzerland, Finland, England, Canada.

After much deliberation, I decided the only safe way to get a new driving licence was back here in the country where I was technically still a resident.

I was extremely tempted to pretend I was an English resident again to get a UK licence, but the threat of a two-year jail sentence on the application form eventually dissuaded me.

So, with a slightly heavy heart, I headed to Heathrow to board my long haul flight to Canada.

My plane flew in to Vancouver on Thursday night, and my plane out of here will take off three days later. Just enough time to get my body adjusted to the PST timezone before switching back to CET in France a few days later.

I even get to watch the clocks go backwards for the second time in two weeks while I’m here. I’m getting younger by the day!

International flights are usually a good opportunity to catch up on a few movies. Except my TV didn’t work. My seat had no power at all.

Ok, that’s not entirely true.

It had power for the first 10 minutes of Tim Burton’s Batman.

Then it lost power.

There were entire empty rows of working TVs in premium economy just in front of me, but the flight attendants wouldn’t let me move there. After explaining I needed to work, they eventually said I could move there for an hour or two, but if I wanted to watch a movie, I’d have to move back to my economy seat, where, as I just explained, it was impossible to watch a movie.

😑

Thankfully I’d downloaded a few shows onto my iPads earlier in the day and I made it through the flight without too stress.

Now, I could look at this whole trip as a massive pain in the backside, and a giant waste of money.

But that’s not a great way to live. Instead I’ve decided to focus on the positives.

Firstly, it’s an opportunity to hunt for treasure in my storage locker.
